Industry Support Shows We’re There Values

by Bob McCormick on April 16, 2013

2013 marked the second year in a row that Quest Diagnostics has been a presenting sponsor of the Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry Association (DATIA) conference, one of the drug testing industry’s largest annual gatherings. By helping to support this event, we feel as though we are directly contributing to not only furthering DATIA’s cause, but also to further the collective drug and alcohol testing initiatives that join us together. “According to a SAMHSA survey, drug and alcohol testing costs U.S. employers more than $81 billion annually,” said Doug Meiser, Sales Director, Quest Diagnostics Employer Solutions. “It’s through employee screenings that employer’s choose to take back an element of control for the safety and productivity of their workplaces.”

Last week more than 600 industry professionals gathered at the DATIA conference in Orlando. As a DATIA board member and the leader of one of the industry’s largest testing providers, I always look forward to this event. It’s a great way to reconnect with industry colleagues and the fact that we’re a key supporter of this conference is just icing on the cake. To me, this is a great way for us to put our money where our mouth is, and to showcase the fact that we are committed to showing We’re There When You Need Us.

The conference is also a great way to showcase our products and services. We promoted Oral-Eze, the industry’s latest oral fluid testing innovation. Dr. Barry Sample also shared his presentation on 25 years of the Quest Diagnostics Drug Testing Index™. “We’ve performed more than 100 million drug tests over the past quarter-century. It was fascinating to analyze the trends and to share some of the insights at the conference,” said Dr. Sample, Science & Technology Director, Quest Diagnostics Employer Solutions.

Next year’s conference is still a year away and we’re already making plans for how we can both support and leverage this exceptional industry event.

Minimally invasive. Superior performance.

by Bob McCormick on April 8, 2013

As the economy and hiring continue to rebound, employers should be mindful of illicit drug use among prospective employees. There are many drug testing options to consider, but employers should be aware of the strengths of oral fluid testing  for pre-employment and for-cause drug tests. Oral fluid tests are minimally invasive, making them simpler and more convenient for  donors and simple for collectors to administer. Quest Diagnostics has developed Oral-Eze®, a unique oral fluid testing product that features:

  • Superior detection of recent drug use (especially for marijuana)
  • Observable, tamper-resistant collections
  • Simple, onsite collections without the need for a testing facility
  • Proven return on investment

At Quest Diagnostics, we believe that drug testing is a necessity for employers concerned with safety, reducing risk, improving productivity and reducing costs. Furthermore, to create an  effective drug testing program,  it’s important to understand all of the testing options, including the wide ranging  benefits of oral fluid testing.

We invite you to make plans to join us for a free webinar on April 17th that will clearly illustrate the benefits of oral fluid drug testing with Oral-Eze.
